Exploring LA

Today we got up and went to a wee diner thing. I had a breakfast burrito which was awesome. Kaley, Stephanie and I then went downtown to have a tiki tour down Olvera st which has a whole lot of Mexican stuff going on. There were lots of stalls festooned with Mexican nick nacks. Although there were many quality goods for sale we left without a purchase and went for a walk to a downtown park. We rode this thing called angels flight up to it:

The park wasn't quite as big as central park but there were some nice trees in flower:

On the way back to the house it transpired that I had not experienced many U.S. cereals so we stopped in at the supermarket to get a bunch of those little snack size boxes so I could try everything. In the afternoon/evening it was apparently imperative that I had to watch Pocahontas (cos I hadn't seen it before). While I was not exactly brimming with excitement about the movie watching experience Stephanie basically is Pocahontas even without the costume. She even has the same bloody arm tattoo! To this end net happiness between Stephanie and I was through the roof. It wasn't a bad movie, I found myself wondering if I had watched it as a kid if I would have enjoyed it more as an adult. I would imagine so as I still think The Lion King is one of the best movies ever. I guess nostalgia sorts that shit out.

For dinner we had FroYo frozen yoghurt where you just get a cup and fill it with whatever the hell you want and pay for the weight of it at the end. Pretty sweet system and they had all sorts of tasty shit you could put on there like bits of Snickers bars and crushed up peanut butter cups. Lots of flavours of yoghurt too. I'm pretty sure it was not a square meal but it was yum nonetheless. We then went for a wander around the Venice canals. It was pretty cool, lots of man-made canals with extremely expensive houses backing on to them. It was kinda crazy to think that we were still inside LA. Later on we had intended to watch In Bruges (cos Kaley hadn't seen it and it was the whole reason why Stephanie and I met in Bruges in the first place) but Kaley would probably have gone nise during the movie which would kinda ruin the ending. Instead we just talked shit and drank some beer. One beer of which was an "Arrogant Bastard" which was very tasty:

So that is pretty much it for LA. Thank you so much to my amazing LA hostesses Stephanie and Kaley. Although you wouldn't know it to look at them I am convinced that they are actually identical twins. I feel so lucky that I had guides that were genuine LA people and had such a love for their city. They also got extremely excited when we found something I had not tried so we pretty much spent the whole time running around doing and eating U.S. / LA stuff. Some of which included: Churos, Lucky Charms, Jack Apple, FroYo, Breakfast Burrito, Butterfinger, Funnel Cake and Fruit Loops to name a few. Just fantastic people to be around. It is also crazy to think that I had only known Stephanie for a few hours in Bruges before I went to stay with her and apparently Kaley told her going to Bruges would be a good idea so she had a hand in the meeting too.

Quite a few people I have talked to thought it was weird I have always been so keen to visit/live in the States. Most people seem to gravitate to the U.K. for some reason. Above all many were confused when I told them I was so keen go to L.A. Well I dunno what is wrong with me but I bloody love the states. I had a great time in the U.K. and Europe but I would way prefer to live in the U.S. I also like LA better than London! I hope I can get back there for a couple of days before I head north again. In the meantime, cheers guys! The photo below is apparently entitled "Blair and his bitches at Disneyland". Good times!
