Koln = Cologne

So apparently Koln = Cologne. How the hell do they expect us ignorant english speakers to travel in their country if they leave traps like that for us. I rant about this because I bought my train ticket connecting through Koln a while ago but had never heard of the connecting town so I didn't think anything of it. Dave took one look at my ticket and said "oh wow, you can see a real Cathedral". Apparently when he went to the Christchurch Cathedral (RIP) he laughed a little bit and thought "is this it??" so he said, "you have 10 min between your train arriving and your next connecting train in Koln, you must run outside the station and look, then run back in to catch your train". I was sceptical about the timing considering my past experiences at getting on and off trains had not gone so well but I was lucky that my train was running 30min fast so I had 40 min in Koln. So went outside and it was actually a pretty staggering moment. I'm not sure why, the phrase "thats the biggest building I have ever seen" springs to mind (a reference to a silly quote from Bea in London), but for some reason it was just really amazing. Possibly because I was pretty sleep deprived, possibly because the sun was just coming up, possibly because it looked like such a cracker day, possibly because I was on the other side of the world, with no one other than myself to discuss things with and sort my life out. So here it is:

It definitely doesn't look as impressive in the photo! I am also convinced I am the harbinger of scaffolding as it is still following me even though Grant has left Europe! Also the obligatory sunrise over Koln train station photo:

I was back to the platform with time to spare.
